New concept defies description
The Infiniti Etherea is … well, even Infiniti isn’t sure if it’s a coupe, sedan, hatchback or crossover. Whatever it is, it’s being introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
Infiniti says the Etherea concept “previews how a future entry-level Infiniti could look.” It’s small at 4.4 metres, but the luxury maker says that it’s “space efficient and practical thanks to a new mechanical layout and innovative access arrangements.”
Several design cues on the Etherea, such as the crescent-shaped C-pillar, could make their way onto future production models. This same design feature was first seen on the Essence concept.
The Etherea was designed under the direction of Senior Vice President of Design Shiro Nakamura.
