Birchwood Kia East employees work together in honour of their beloved friend and colleague
Birchwood Kia on Regent is launching their second annual Drive Change event on Sunday, August 26, 2012. In support of Cancer Care Manitoba and in honour of their beloved colleague and friend, Martin Olafson, professional stylists will be on location at 1364 Regent Avenue West to provide haircuts for only $5.00. Guests at the event can get their haircut by a professional stylist from 11:00am to 6:00pm, all funds raised will be donated to Cancer Care Manitoba.
“This year, we wanted to do something different,” says Ross Roteliuk, Sales Manager at Birchwood Kia on Regent. “We thought of the Cuts for Cancer idea after the passing of our beloved friend and colleague, Martin Olafson.”
This Drive Change day in Winnipeg’s East dealership will honour Martin Olafson’s memory and will set the bar high for their future events. The Olafson family is expected to come celebrate the day and help raise funds for cancer research with the staff of Birchwood Kia on Regent, where Martin worked for over a decade.
“Everyone loved Martin,” expresses Shayne Rankin, General Manager at Birchwood Kia on Regent. “He was a genuine person and went about his day without expecting much in return, he loved working here and loved the people. He will truly be missed by everyone here.”
The event features family-friendly activities such as a bouncy castle, hot dogs and refreshments, a car wash, live music, and more. “You can even dunk a sales person in the dunk tank,” adds Ross Roteliuk. Additionally, Birchwood Kia on Regent will generously match every dollar raised for this event, making the donation even larger for cancer research in Manitoba.
The Kia Motors’ Drive Change campaign returned to Canada in 2011 to promote positive changes in communities across the nation. The campaign was launched to promote that everyone can drive positive changes in their communities. Winnipeg’s Birchwood Kia dealerships are also dedicated to driving change in their community.
